2010, a new year, a new meeting place
The local history group has moved! After nearly nine years at the library the history have moved into the refurbished Hagard Community Centre with the help of the ‘Your Neighbourhood Matters’ money. As part of the grant funding we are holding a ‘Welcome to Willenhall’ event on Saturday 20th February from 11am to 2pm. Regular meetings will now take place in the Café area once a month on a Monday evening 6pm till 8 pm [50p Members £1 non members]. The group have over the years amassed a huge collection of documents and photographs of the local area These will be on display and open for you to come and see the vast changes that have taken place over the years, Talks, Bring your stories & pictures evenings, help with family history, are just a few of the ideas for this year, we need you to let us know what you would like to hear about, so come along and let us know and we maybe able to arrange a talk on that subject or an event.
Each Tuesday whilst the coming to the Car Boot, call in have and stop for a chat. We will be opening up the ‘History Office’ so that we can have easy access to our records and photograph albums for you to see. Bring along your photos so we can copy them and add those special moments to the collection thus adding another important piece to the jigsaw which is Willenhall history. Try your hand at guessing the names of mystery objects and what they were used for, and have a go at our quizzes. 11am Start 12 dinners up 1pm The ‘Talk’ 2pm Who’s Helping clear up? Funded by Coventry Council ‘Your Neighbourhood Matters’ MeetingsThe group’s meetings, take place in the Community Room at Meeting charge :- Members 50p Visitors £1 2003 –2004 Programme Additional meetings may be arranged for site visits, displays or workshops.
